Possible waste disposal methods are recycling, composting, incineration, landfills, waste to energy and waste minimization. As for the waste management, it is the measures utilized to manage waste in its entire life cycle, from waste generation to disposal or recovery.

They focus main on how to recycle the waste. Reasons to recycle waste are:

Ø  To protect the environment.

Ø  Reduce the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials.

Ø  Saves energy.

Ø  Reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate changes.

Ø  Conserves natural resources.

Ø  Creates jobs, producing economic benefits.

Ø  Reduces waste sent to landfills.

Methods to create awareness about disposal of waste are:

·    An effective way to improve attitudes towards waste reuse and recycling is to integrate waste management education into school curriculum and particularly teaching children about the causes and consequences of waste disposal and highlighting the importance of waste prevention, reuse and recycling.

·      Waste management authorities can facilitate this by outreach activities, sending representatives to local schools or inviting school children to create awareness.

1.   First Approach – involves looking at waste hauling and disposal records as well as contracts with recycling facilities.

2.  Second Approach – requires a team of internal auditors to identify waste generating activities through observation and interviews with employees.

3.   Third Approach – is the physical collecting, sorting and weighing of a sample of organization’s waste. This sample can be a day’s worth of waste or a collection of waste from each department.
